Don’t know how to take care of your hair? Don’t worry! I got you.
First, your need to figure out what your hair type is.
Once you’ve got that figured out, you can find a hair routine that works for your hair. In this article, I’m going to focus on type 1 hair.
Type 1 hair is something so many girls would love to have. Straight, sleek, and silky. But of course, to keep it like that it has to be taken care of. Although getting more of a voluminous texture is difficult, there are ways to achieve the maximum potential out of your hair.
Washing Hair
Type 1 hair is more likely to get/look greasy or oily, so although people are always telling you things like “don’t wash your hair too often, You can only wash your hair every 2-3 days” ignore them. To make sure your hair stays silky and smooth and doesn’t become oily and disgusting, try and wash your hair either every day or every other day.
Pros and Cons
Naturally, type 1 hair comes with its pros as well as cons.
Its pros would be that it’s very low maintenance, it air-dries reasonably well, and lacks frizz.
On the other hand, the cons are quite prominent when it comes to styling. Curling your hair isn’t going to stay and is very likely to damage your hair. Overusing heat is one of the worst things you can do to your hair. And, as many compliments as you get when you curl your hair, is the same as what curly-haired girls get when they straighten their hair. People compliment your hair when it's different when it's something they aren’t used to, so it's a change. But that doesn’t mean your normal hair isn’t equally good, if not better. SO, now that we’re past that, with type 1 hair, the cons are that curling it, or elaborate hairstyles are more difficult because the hair is so smooth and silky, it just falls out of most hairdos.
Although you can be content with leaving your hair normally, if you aren’t as fond of the look of sleek hair, we aren’t going to leave you hanging.
Caring and Styling
Now that you understand a little bit about type 1 hair, let's talk about caring for it - and, of course, styling!
Before you get styling you have to do some haircare. If things like heavy leave-in treatments are too much for your fine hair, try pre-shampoo. It offers the same advantages as leave-ins, but it is made for being rinsed out and is less heavy on your hair. Continuing with the topic of washing your hair, when you condition your hair, avoid conditioning your roots, and focus mostly on the middle and ends of your hair. Ideally, apply your conditioner 1 inch away from your scalp and work your way down. Going back to shampoo, when you're lathering your hair with normal shampoo, try and use products that are designed to make your hair more voluminous.
Next, brush your hair. Although straight fine hair has a less frequent amount of knots, they are still there and they can cause a lot of damage and breakage to your hair if you don’t brush them out regularly and properly. Also, avoid brushing wet hair since that tears out half your hair.
To start the styling process, you have to begin with more care. Even the flattest hair can look voluminous with the right techniques! You’ll need a blow-dry spray and mousse.
After you're done washing your hair, towel dry it as much as possible. Then, apply a golf ball-sized amount of mousse to your roots before spraying your blow-dry spray with full coverage. Once you're finished, blow dry your hair upside down, using your fingers to gently tousle it. Using a brush can often make your hair look limp, and your fingers make it fluffier and more voluminous. When you finish drying your hair, add a sea salt spray to emphasize and define your hair.
Guarded with these tips, you can be sure to enjoy your fabulous type 1 hair!
